We regret to announce we were unexpectedly unable to retain access to the Meadowlark location this year.
As a result we have regretfully had to cancel this year's Meadowlark.
If you would like to be notified when we know whether we can continue
next year, please let us know.
Our sincere apologies.
Instructional workshops, concerts, jamming, great food, great folks!
Six days of Maine, Maritime, Celtic, Old-Time and Good-Time music on a beautiful wooded lake. Meadowlark is a music camp, primarily for adults, on the shores of lovely Washington Pond in the hamlet of Washington, Maine, about midway between Augusta and Camden.
We would like to invite you to join us in mid-coast Maine for our August 24-30 2008, session. This web site should convey some of the magic that we have all felt here in previous summers, and which we expect to enliven Meadowlark 2008 as well. Please feel free to write or call us if you have questions about the facilities, staff, workshops, or anything else.

Sunday, August 24: arrival starting around noon; 6 PM dinner; orientation, staff concert, and introductions; social hour and informal jams.
Monday-Friday: two morning workshops daily; lunch; two afternoon workshops daily (the last is a "poutpourri" that changes each day, to let you sample a wide range of musical opportunities). Evening activities include a contra dance, staff concerts, and a group "Whomp" jam on Thursday. Friday evening offers a Maine lobster feast, camper talent show, and closing candlelight gathering. There will be slow and super-slow jams nightly after dinner, plus informal sings, jams, and get-togethers as the spirit moves us.
Saturday, August 30: brunch; road snacks; departure by noon.
The facilities include a sandy beach; 20 cabins with showers; a performance hall; many great spaces for jamming; an on-site (and musical!) physician; secluded woods; a lakeside sauna; and a pair or two of nesting loons. You can play as much or as little music as you like; when you're not playing, there are clouds to watch, the Maine coast nearby, L.L. Bean and Freeport about an hour away, and (if you bring your own canoe) the lake to explore and fish to catch. And since we believe that the way to a folk musician's heart is through the stomach, we take care to provide healthy, tasty, abundant food--always with vegetarian selections.
Sincerely yours,
Jerry Bryant, Assistant Director
