A supportive, non-threatening introductory workshop starting from \"this is a fiddle.\" Covers tuning, noting, bowing, and simple tunes.


A beginning workshop that strengthens your fiddle repertoire with tunes from a broad array of genres, including old-time, Celtic, & other traditions.


An easy-going introduction to basic folk guitar. Includes tuning, stringing the guitar, chords, fingering, strumming, and simple repertoire.


An introduction to hammered dulcimer with emphasis on tuning, simple scales and chords, warm-up drills, hammer control, locating notes, and simple tunes.


For beginners, an introduction to basic harmonica techniques with emphasis on breathing, rhythm, and group playing. You'll be amazed at what you find yourself doing! For int/advanced players, techniques for rhythmic, multi-genre playing from a master mouth-harpist.


An introduction to mountain dulcimer technique and repertoire, including tuning, noting, strumming, & playing by ear.


A gentle introduction to the 5-string banjo, with emphasis on old-time \"frailing\" style. Includes tuning, noting, right-hand technique, and basic old-time repertoire.

For those who have the very basics under their belt, but who still want to work on developing their technique and repertoire in a slow, supportive fashion.

Wonderful, uplifting group singing with an emphasis on FUN! Warm-ups, blending, rounds, and harmony by ear.


Intermediate-level instruction on Celtic harp. Review technique, and play ensemble music that fits your ability and playing level. Loaner harps will be available on a first come, first-served basis; please be sure to request a loaner harp on your registration form, or write to Jerry or Curt about it well before camp starts.


Each day at breakfast, selected staff announce workshops that will be offered on a one-time basis during the fourth period. Topics vary depending on the interests of the staff and participants. In the past, these have included bawdy sea songs, old-time or Celtic repertoire, and \"how do you do that!\" sessions with staff.

Explore the outer limits of banjo technique with a master. Anything goes, from straight traditional to wa-wa pedal.


For more experienced players, Grey will provide more challenging master classes.


Intermediate to advanced keyboard techniques and repertoire, with emphasis on contra dance and band back-up. Please bring your own keyboard with you.


This workshop helps you to build nifty vocal and/or instrumental harmonies for songs chosen by you and other participants.


Easy and fun dances so all can participate! Meadowlark staff band & caller.


This is a chance to reserve some time alone with Gordon during a fourth period session, in which you can get personalized advice on how to bring the best out of your singing techniques. Specific times to be announced; durations will be approximately 20 minutes apiece.


If the evening \"slow\" jam is a bit over your head, try this excellent alternative; a super-slow jam session for raw beginners. All the songs are REALLY easy and are played REALLY REALLY slow so you can keep up even if you just started playing yesterday.


Shortly after supper, folks gather in the dance studio for an informal, laid-back jam. Staff help to guide the sessions on a level accessible to all who have a basic command of their instrument. All instruments welcome. It's a great opportunity to try new skills, play in groups, build your repertoire, and have lots of fun.


An easy-going gathering of people who love to sing and to share great songs. Bring your voice and your favorite singables to share, preferably those with a very simple chorus and that don't require sheet music to follow.


This workshop will focus on composing words and melodies with which to create your own songs. Primary emphasis will most likely be on ballads. All instruments welcome.


A massive, memorable, stand-up group jam led by Chris & Rachel, with festive setting, great songs and tunes, and high spirits. All instruments and voices welcome.
